When the Covid-19 pandemic was declared last spring, it was hard to imagine that 2021 would still entail masks, quarantines, and social distancing. But it’s too soon to let our guard down when it comes to the coronavirus! Since we are looking at another slightly different spring break season, we’ve compiled a few ideas for ways to keep your kids entertained while they’re out of school for a much-needed spring break.
Since many of us are still limiting travel, all of these fun activities and adventures are in the Houston area! You don’t have to go far to make memories as a family.
Fruit picking at Blessington Farms
Nothing says spring like fresh-picked strawberries. Blessington Farms is located in Wallis, TX and offers the chance to pick your own strawberries straight from the patch. Take a short drive west outside of Katy, and enjoy a spring day on the farm.
Friendswood Fairy Trail
Step into a fairy wonderland with the Friendswood Fairy Trail! This enchanting, nature-based educational activity allows kids to go on the hunt for fairies while learning about their natural habitat. Each fairy teaches kids about something new: volunteerism, health eating, recycling, wildlife, and community.
Spring Break To Go craft kits
The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is offering free craft kits before and during spring break, intended for families to explore crafting together at home. Create paper-mache food, friendship bracelets, and clay ornaments with these all-inclusive kits. Find out how to pick yours up here.
Spring in Houston often gives us some of the most beautiful weather we see all year long! Spend time exploring the outdoors and enjoying the weather by taking on one of the best local hiking trails. It’s a great way to get some fresh air, stay safely distanced from other families, and explore something new in your city.
Service Projects with Generation Serve
One great way to bond as a family and make memories that will also instill family values is to serve your community together. At Texas Emergency Care, we believe in giving back to our community and we love it when our patients do too. Through Generation Serve, you can sign up for family volunteer opportunities, or projects that you can do together as a family at home. Generation Serve works with not for profit organizations in the Houston and Austin areas.
Spring Break may continue to look different than most of us are used to, but for our kids it can still be a memory-filled week of family time. Here’s to making the most of a beautiful season in Houston!
